Workshop Description
This programme combines theoretical exploration and creative practice to study key concepts such as narrator theory, point of view, and unreliable narration, examining how narrative structures shape reader perception. Techniques including temporal narration, scene construction, dialogue, and psychological portrayal will be taught, emphasizing the principle of “show, not tell.” Through text analysis and writing exercises, participants will learn to apply techniques such as multiple perspectives and the breaking of the fourth wall in their own narratives.
Workshop Objectives
The programme aims to develop participants’ ability to integrate narrative theory with creative practice, fostering both critical understanding and expressive writing skills. Participants will explore narrator theory, point of view, and unreliable narration, learning to control narrative distance and temporal rhythm to achieve layered storytelling. Through writing exercises and textual analysis, the course emphasizes “show, not tell” in scene building, characterization, and dialogue, guiding participants to craft their own flash fiction with structural creativity and emotional depth.
Target Participants / Prerequisite
This course is designed for Secondary 1–6 students who are interested in micro-fiction writing and exploring the use of AI in creative storytelling. It aims to inspire students to apply creative thinking and digital tools in narrative expression, strengthen their writing and structural awareness, and develop the ability to translate theory into creative practice.
