Workshop Description
Everyone has a story in them that is waiting to be written, shared and told. However, not everyone has the skills to organize their ideas and thoughts in a structured manner to express and tell their story effectively. This programme will guide students through all the stages of process writing. Students will develop their creative voice and improve their writing skills through continuous reflection and revision throughout every stage of the writing process.
Workshop Objectives

Students will learn creative writing skills and use of literary devices throughout the five stages of process writing.

Students will be able to analyze examples and excerpts of writing and identify the literary devices that are used by the author.

Students will be able to generate ideas for a new story and brainstorm suitable characters and settings using various prompts and guided questions.

Students will be able to write a draft for a story based on a prompt.

Students will be able to edit and revise their story based on feedback. Students will also be able to provide constructive feedback for other’s stories and ask relevant questions.

Students will be able to confidently present their story in a format that they feel is most suitable for them.

Students will be able to reflect and evaluate their own work processes and stories.
Target Participants / Prerequisite
Participants should be avid readers and writers with an interest in storytelling and writing their own book.
Participants should have a strong foundation in English and be able to write compositions in English with ease with minimal grammatical or structural errors.
Workshop Instructor
Ms. Irenee Chan
Ms. Irenee Chan (Y.Y. Chan) is a multi-award-winning children’s book author and dedicated English teacher. Since 2020, she has published seven books, beginning with her debut picture book, Can You Hear Me, Daddy?, which earned two Royal Dragonfly Book Awards (1st Place and Honorable Mention). Her second book, Grandma, It’s Me!, received three awards, including the Silver Medal from the Readers’ Favorite Book Award, 1st Place from the Royal Dragonfly Book Awards, and the Best Children’s Book from Indies Today.
With over fifteen years of teaching experience in Hong Kong and Guangzhou, Ms. Chan has also served as the Head of the English Department, developing the English curriculum and organizing school-wide English activities and events. Currently, Ms Chan offers a variety of workshops and classes designed to enhance English communication skills for children and young adults, and is working on her next book.

陳翊愉女士
陳翊愉女士(Y.Y. Chan)是一位屢獲殊榮的兒童書籍作家和敬業的英語教師。自 2020 年以來,她已出版了七本書,第一本圖畫書是《爸爸,你能聽到我嗎? 》,該書獲得了兩項皇家蜻蜓圖書獎(一等獎和榮譽獎)。她的第二本書《婆婆,是我! 》獲得了三項獎項,包括讀者最愛圖書獎銀獎、皇家蜻蜓圖書獎一等獎和《獨立今日》最佳兒童圖書獎。
陳女士在香港和廣州擁有超過十五年的教學經驗,也曾擔任英語系主任,負責開發英語課程並組織全校英語活動和賽事。目前,陳女士開設了各種旨在提高兒童和青少年英語溝通能力的工作坊和課程,並且正在撰寫她的下一本書。
