關焯權先生

關先生獲取香港大學教育碩士、理碩士(電腦) 、理學士(工程) 、教育文憑及香港電腦教育學會專業會員。他曾以借調形式在教育局數學教育組工作兩年,並從 2009 年開始至今擔任教育局數學組數學閱讀報告比賽的籌委及評判之一。在2009 年至2013 年期間,他曾獲邀擔任教育局「課程為本學與教資源庫(數學) 」焦點及工作小組成員之一。

此外,他亦為香港大學教育學院融合及特殊教育研究發展中心轄下資優教育、創意及天才發展工作小組創始成員之一。過往數年,他均擔任暑假資優課程的課程設計者及導師,並早年獲邀與修讀港大教育學院教育碩士生分享對資優教育的看法。此外,他也是香港大學教育學院共融及特殊教育促進中心創造力與人才發展實驗室和計畫(CATD)的成員。

 

他獲香港大學教育學院共融及特殊教育促進中心創造力與人才發展實驗室和計畫(CATD)邀請,擔任題為「為資優學生開發一套識別工具」的專案的撰稿人。該計畫由香港資優教育學院委託進行,旨在開發一種全面的方法來評估香港兒童和青少年的資優。

他也曾分別獲教育局檢討及策劃組和港大教育學院邀請擔任講者,向中學數學老師及任讀港大教育學院教育碩士生分享以英語教授數學的經驗。

 

他亦獲邀擔任教育局評估及考評局組中學數學課業質素保證委員會委員之一,為教育局網上題目庫(STAR)及「網上學與教支援」(WLTS)提供專業的意見。

最後,他聯同一位港大教育學院副教授曾撰寫一篇有關數學資優課程設計的論文,並於2013 年《資優及天才國際期刊》內發表。他亦曾於香港特別行政區教育局課程發展署數學教育組《2019 學校數學通訊第二十二期》內發表一文章有關數學資優課程的設計理念及實踐。

Workshop Objectives

The talk aims to empower parents of mathematically gifted students with comprehensive strategies to nurture their children effectively. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of supporting the affective development of these gifted children. The objectives of the talk are as follows:

1. Identifying Mathematically Gifted Children: Strategies for recognizing exceptional mathematical abilities in children.

2. Affective Education for Mathematically Gifted Children: Fostering emotional intelligence and well-being in mathematically gifted students.

3. Nurturing Mathematically Gifted Children in Daily Life: Practical tips for supporting and encouraging mathematical talent in everyday settings.

4. Local and International Resources for Mathematically Gifted Students: Accessing relevant programs, materials, and opportunities worldwide.

5. Selecting Appropriate Courses and Competitions for Mathematically Gifted Children: Guidance on choosing suitable educational programs and competitions to challenge and engage gifted students.

6. Study Pathways for Mathematically Gifted Students: Exploring educational trajectories and career options tailored to mathematically gifted individuals.

Mr. Kwan Cheuk-kuen, Anderson

Anderson Kwan (Cert.Ed., B.Sc., M.Sc., M.Ed., MACE) was seconded to the Mathematics Education Section of the Education Bureau (EDB) for two years. He has served as an adjudicator for the EDB Math Book Report Competition since 2009 and was a focus and working group member for the EDB Digital Depository (Math) from 2009 to 2013.

In addition, he was a founding member of the Special Interest Group for Gifted Education, Creativity and Talent Development at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). He has also designed and tutored summer gifted programs at HKU on multiple occasions and shared insights on gifted education with HKU M.Ed. students. Furthermore, he was a member of the Laboratory and Programme for Creativity and Talent Development (CATD) at the Center for Advancement in Inclusive and Special Education, Faculty of Education, HKU.

 

 He was invited by the Laboratory and Programme for Creativity and Talent Development (CATD) at the Center for Advancement in Inclusive and Special Education, Faculty of Education, HKU to be an item writer for the project titled 'Development of a Set of Identification Tools for Gifted and Talented Students.' This project, commissioned by the Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education, aimed to develop a comprehensive approach for assessing giftedness among children and adolescents in Hong Kong.

Anderson Kwan was invited as a guest speaker by both the Review and Planning Section of the EDB and the Faculty of Education at HKU to share strategies with secondary teachers and HKU M.Ed. students on conducting math lessons using English Medium Instruction for junior form secondary students.

He was also a member of the Task Quality Assurance Committee for Math at the Secondary Level, Assessment & HKEAA Section, Education Bureau, providing professional advice on the EDB’s Student Assessment Repository (STAR) and Web-based Learning and Teaching Support (WLTS).

Notably, he co-authored a journal article in 2013 with an HKU associate professor on designing gifted education programs in mathematics, published in the Gifted and Talented International Journal. Additionally, he published another paper in 2019 on the design rationale and implementation of mathematically gifted programs in the School Mathematics Newsletter Vol. 22, issued by the Mathematics Education Section, Curriculum Institute, Education Bureau, Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
